Day 40-42 July 15-18 Gregory Downs-Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill National Park) 100km

We left our riverside fun and headed to Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park. This is in the far north of Queensland, right on the border with the Northern Territory. The Lawn Hill creek has formed an amazing gorge over time and has left an awesome spectacle of green/blue water and lush riverside forest in what otherwise is a desert. We went canoeing, bush walking and spent much time swimming in the beautiful water.

These little falls are made of Tufa (say Toofa). It is made from the calcium carbonate that is in the water. As the water evaporates, the calcium carbonate is left behind as a sort of brittle rock...it takes many years to build up.

We went for some great walks and the views were amazing! Look closely on the water and you can see two canoes...we had been down there earlier that morning doing the same thing.

Little lizard

Floating on the tubes...life is rough!

We went on a few walks. Our favourite was to go to the little water falls for a swim. The water was warmish...

Tufa Falls

We made little rock cairns along the path

We also had a go at making little inukshuks

Evidence that this part of the land was once covered by the sea. It was amazing to think that we were walking on an ancient sea bed.

  1. hi guys, this is us all the way from berlin. We are staying with Christophe over night until we get on our boat tomorrow. Looks like you are having a great time. We are too - and it has been very hot for most of the trip. The girls miss their cousins and cant wait to see them again. Christophe gives his greetings - and he hopes to come to Australia in the next few years for at least a year. He says you are invited to visit Berlin when you are next in this hemisphere. Send us an email sometime cblacksvg gmail.com. What was yours again? love Stephanie Chris Evi and Matilda
