Day 32-34 July 9-11 Daintree-Port Douglas (Great Barrier Reef) 83km

We are now in Port Douglas, the launching pad to The Great Barrier Reef. We went on a great day adventure aboard a Quicksilver wave piercing catamaran that took us right out to the edge of the continental shelf of Australia. It was a great day and Greta didn't even get sea sick! We hired an underwater camera and Sullivan took some great photos of life under the sea.

Greta

One fish, two fish, red fish...blue fish.

Chris exploring the reef

Check out this video we made of Sullivan's pictures.

While in Port Douglas we also visited a wildlife habitat. The highlight was seeing a Jabiru in her nest with a new baby. There were also lots of other birds and a few crocs that you could get some good pictures of.

This Jabiru is one year old and had been born last year.

A bit too close for me!!

The boys enjoyed having a Lorikeet sit on their shoulder...well Sullivan wan't too sure...

Tawny Frog Mouth (a type of bird)

Pelican...it's beak can hold more than it's belly can !! (not true, but the kids like saying the funny rhyme)
