Day 29-31 July 5-8 Kuranda-Wonga Beach (95km)-Daintree-Noah Beach (Cape Tribulation) 62km

Made it to the Daintree!! It is beautiful. Went on a river boat tour on the Daintree River to look for crocodiles. We saw 4 crocs, 2 snakes, lots of birds and a water dragon lizard!

Three years old.

Croc lunch?

Morris

Looking for crocs!

Tree Snake (not poisonous)

We then headed for the ferry to cross the Daintree River. There was a huge croc waiting for us.

Loading the ferry

Made it to our campsite at Noah Beach Cape Tribulation. A beautiful spot (once the rain stopped!). Unfortunately you can not swim at the beach due to crocs, but it is tempting...not that tempting though.

Achtung !!

But we had lots of fun on the beach anyway...

Sand Crab

Looking for pirate treasure...

Today we lazed around on the beach and made dams in the sand and mud...a great morning. We then went for a walk up on Cape Tribulation Beach. Also did a walk in the mangroves and that was fascinating to see how the plants and trees survive and support the environment.

Beach at Cape Tribulation

Although the water is inviting not many were swimming. There were sightings of crocs around...and if they don't get you the marine stingers (Box Jellyfish) will...this time of year they are rare, but we didn't have our stinger suits...so no swimming for us.

Starting the walk through the mangroves.

See any crocs?

Eating Green Ants. The Aborigines eat the body of these ants. They taste very lemony. They also make a warm tea out of them that is meant to be good for sore throats. Sullivan loved them and was eating green ants for the next hour or so!! Jules liked them too.

New life.

Mangroves are amazing and we learned a lot about how plants survive in the harsh salty tidal water conditions of mangroves.

Check out this short movie of us Jungle Surfing in the 120 million year old rainforest....it was amazing...and FUN! (will take a few minutes to download)
