Day 44-45 July 19-20 Cloncurry-Longreach 530km

We made it to Longreach after a bit of a drive through the Queensland outback. The highlight so far has been whip cracking. We went to "Rusty Frame and Friends Variety Outback Show" in Longreach. Rusty worked his dogs and that was so fun to watch. We also learned about snakes from Heidi the snake handler. Wayne the whip cracker was very impressive and after the show he let the boys have a go at trying to crack a whip...check out the video...they did pretty good....and were so excited. (They are wearing sunglasses to protect their eyes as the whip can really hurt your eye).

Today we went to the Stockman's Hall of Fame in Longreach. It is a great place and we learned a lot about early pioneer life in Australia and about life in the country. We say another outback show with some horse tricks and we also saw how they used to use teams of bullocks (male cows) to pull cut trees from the bush and load them onto wagons. It was a great glimpse of how tough life would have been in those early days, and how much an adventure it would have been too.
