We left Longreach and headed for Canarvon Gorge (still in Queensland). It is a beautiful national park that has been formed over thousands of years of erosion. It has large vertical canyon like walls of limestone. There is a small creek that runs down the centre of the gorge. We went of a great walk that was 10km return. We saw this stunning area called the "Moss Garden" where ancient rain water trickles out of the limestone walls to support a blanket of cool green moss and ferns. There is also a beautiful little waterfall. Greta continued a bit further along the trail (while the boys headed back) to see the "Art Gallery" where there are hundreds of aboriginal stencils, etchings and paintings on the limestone walls...truly amazing.

There were about 6 creek crossings on the walk.
Waterfall and rock pool at the "Moss Garden"
We all enjoyed creating some amazing rock cairns out of the smooth river stones that lined the canyon floor.
