Mount Field National Park

From Cockle Creek we headed back north of Hobart to Mount Field National Park. Along with Freycinet National Park, Mt. Field is the oldest park in Australia. It is a beautiful spot. We had a bit of rain and drizzle on one day and that made walking in the forest very green and moist. The big attraction is Russell Falls and they are quite spectacular. The tall trees or swamp gums are also amazing.
Biggest (heaviest) tree in Australia and 2nd in the world (2nd to General Sherman the California Red Gum)

Hops for making beer !! Growing just north of Hobart. Tasmania produces the majority of the hops for all the beer made in Australia.

Bug Friend

Friends we had met two weeks earlier in a campground and we bumped into them going home on the ferry.

It was a bit rougher on the way back to the mainland and the ferry rolled a bit. The kids loved it...Greta felt a bit green, but we all fell asleep and before we knew it we were back in Melbourne and then on the road home to Canberra. It was a great trip filled with lots of fun camping, great beaches and some beautiful scenery.
