Easter 2011 - Dunns Swamp-Wollemi National Park

Here are some photos of our recent 5 day camping trip. Over the Easter long weekend we travelled north west of the Blue Mountains to Dunns Swamp in Wollemi National Park. It was a great trip and we all had fun. Lots of canoeing, kayaking, rock hopping and sitting around the campfire.

Sullivan builds the fire.

Boys in their kayaks

Chris guides the canoe.

Beautiful reflections from the high rock walls.

The setting sun was amazing!!

There were some great rocks to play on the boys spent a lot of time rock hopping.

Sullivan ready for the next adventure.

Jules relaxes in the sun.

Greta and Sullivan heading up the river.

There were some trees down over the river so we had to squish through some places to keep going....a great adventure!

Will we fit?

Sullivan does the limbo with a gum tree and a kayak.

We made it!

We took advantage of the great location to work on some canoeing skills. Sullivan is working on his canoeing badge for Cub Scouts and had to learn how to capsize a canoe and recover it back to shore.

How fun is this!!

Another Cub badge we worked on was the First Aid badge.
Practising how to wrap an ankle with an elastic bandage.

Of course they boys had to make "nests" for the Easter Bunny to leave the eggs in.

Jules' nest.

View of our camp from the rock above. It was a great spot.

Practising putting on a head bandage.

Using a triangular bandage to put an arm in a sling.

"Look what the Easter Bunny left me!"

"I got some too!"

Fun on the rocks.

While out for a walk we found a lost camera case. When we got back to the camp there was a note saying someone had lost it. The boys were very excited. We did not want the $100 but were happy just to have found and return the lost case.

For his Campcraft badge, Sullivan had to set and light a fire and then cook a meal.

Preparing the sausage filling for the jaffle iron (sandwich maker).

Cooking.

Yummy!

This could almost be ice bergs!!
The rock is sandstone, so over the years the water has eroded some great shapes and designs.

Greta enjoys the sun.

Hiding in the reeds.

Jules has a go at fishing....no fish unfortunately.

Sullivan tries his luck.

They did catch some minnows!! And this was more fun anyway.

Beautiful calm water.

Great, Jules and Sullivan.

We hope you have enjoyed the pictures. See you all for the next adventure....
